Dental Implant in Delhi
What is an implant?
A Dental implant is a screw like prosthesis made of titanium that is placed in the jaw bone to replace a missing tooth or teeth. It simulates the “root” of the tooth and a cap is placed on top that looks and functions like a normal tooth in your mouth.
Who needs an implant?
Teeth implants can be done in most adults. They may be the correct choice for you if:
- You have missing tooth/teeth in your mouth.
- Are unable to or don’t want to wear dentures.
How is it done?
At our Dental implant clinic in Delhi, before starting the procedure, the area is properly numbed so that you remain comfortable during the entire length of the treatment. The Implant dentist then creates a small entry point in the bone which is gradually widened to the final size of the implant. The Tooth implant is then placed in the created site. It is then left undisturbed to integrate with the bone for the next 3-4 months and subsequently a custom made cap is placed on top.
Is it painful?
Dental implant procedure itself is not painful, as everything is performed under anaesthesia. You may face some post-op discomfort which can be alleviated by the prescribed medication.
What if I don’t get my teeth replaced?
Two main problems occur when an empty space is left in the mouth for too long.
- Surrounding teeth may start shifting to try to close the gap that has been created between the teeth.
- Bone loss can occur at the site of the missing tooth. This lost bone needs extensive augmentation procedures to bring back or in some cases it may not be possible to recover lost bone at all.
Do I need anaesthesia for dental implant?
In most cases, a small anaesthetic is required to ensure that the area is numb and does not hurt during the procedure of Teeth implant placement.
What can I eat after implant placement?
The doctor may ask you to avoid eating anything till the time your anaesthesia hasn’t worn off. This is to ensure that you don’t bite your cheeks, lips or tongue under the affect of the anaesthetic.
After implant placement, it is advisable to eat cold & soft foods (like ice cream, fruit juice, chaas, milkshake, custard, cold oats, porridge etc) for the next 24 hours. Do not use a straw for 24 hours. Most patients go back to their normal diet after 48 hours.
What is the home care after implant placement?
Your tooth and surrounding gums may be slightly tender due to tissue manipulation during treatment. This is normal and can be easily managed with the prescribed medication. Some external cold fermentation with an ice pack may be done over the treated area.
In addition to the above, follow all post surgery instructions as given by the dentist.
How many sittings does it take?
Usually Teeth implant placement needs 3-4 sittings spread over a period of 4 months. The measurement for the implant cap is made after 3-4 months after the initial implant placement.
Are dental implants safe?
Titanium teeth implants are biocompatible and hence do not cause any problem in most cases. Patients with an allergy to titanium can undergo zirconium implants. These materials are not ferromagnetic and therefore don’t usually cause any problems during MRIs. However, other metallic dental work like old metal fillings or caps may do so.

Is dental implant an expensive treatment?
When you look at the advantage of getting Fixed teeth in Delhi along with the expected longevity of the Dental implant treatment, you will realise that it is not an expensive treatment. Once an implant is properly integrated in the jaw bone, it can even last for a lifetime as long as it gets proper care and follow-up.
How can I take care of my implants?
Once you have implants in your mouth please make sure that:
- You quit smoking. Smoking causes damage to the implant bone integration and can cause your implants to fail.
- Maintain proper oral hygiene. Brushing twice every day, flossing and using a mouthwash help in maintaining implant health.
- Do not use your implants to open keychains or bottles. You can eat normal food but avoid anything that can be exceptionally hard.
- Make sure that you visit us for a check up and X-ray atleast once a year so that we can check if everything is fine.
